ELECTION NOTICE 2027 – HUMAKO Representative Council Elections!

The Student Union of the Humanist University of Applied Sciences, HUMAKO, will hold Representative Council elections for 2027 from 28th of October to 4th of November 2026.

The nomination period for the HUMAKO Representative Council elections opened on 15th of September 2026 and will remain open until 3:00 p.m. on 7th of October 2026.

The elections will elect the Representative Council for 2027.

The Representative Council consists of 25 members of the Student Union: 15 full members and 10 deputy members.

The elections will be conducted electronically from 9:00 a.m. on 28th of October 2026 until 3:00 p.m. on 4th of November 2026.

The official language of the Student Union’s decision-making and official meetings is Finnish. Representative Council meetings may also be held bilingually in Finnish and English.

The organizational meeting of the new Representative Council will be held in Helsinki on 18th of November 2026, starting at 5:00 p.m. The meeting will be held as a hybrid meeting.

Who can stand as a candidate?

All members of the Student Union who have paid their membership fee by 7th of October 2026 at the latest are eligible to stand as candidates.

Candidates may form electoral alliances consisting of 1–15 candidates. Each electoral alliance must appoint a representative, who may also be a person outside the electoral alliance. The representative of the alliance must complete the electoral alliance registration form, and each candidate must complete a candidate nomination form.

Electoral alliances may form electoral blocs consisting of no more than 30 candidates. Each electoral bloc must appoint a representative, who must complete the electoral bloc registration form.

The election documents must be submitted as email attachments to [email protected] by 3:00 p.m. on 7th of October 2026.

Why stand as a candidate?

The Representative Council is the highest decision-making body of the Student Union. Among other things, it approves the Student Union’s budget, elects the Board, and provides direction to the Board in developing and advancing the Student Union’s activities.

As a member of the Representative Council, you can also bring development ideas concerning the university and the Student Union to the decision-making table and act as a voice for the wishes and interests of fellow students.

Serving on the Representative Council can also allow you to accumulate hours towards the recognition of prior learning for the Working as a Student Activist course.

Who can vote?

All Student Union members who have paid their membership fee by 11:59 p.m. on 19th of October 2026 are eligible to vote in the elections.

You can check your voting eligibility by contacting the Executive Director of HUMAKO.

Requests for rectification concerning the electoral register must be submitted in writing to the Central Election Committee at [email protected]. The deadline will be announced in connection with the elections, if necessary.
