Foreword

It´s here again making our days better! Oh what you ask? Well, May Day or Wappu of course! ✨

Whether this is your first, third, or whateverth Wappu, it’s undeniably one of the highlights of the year for students. Wappu is full of local traditions, including completing Wappupasses, crowning statues with student caps, and enjoying picnics – all of which are widely celebrated across Humak’s campus locations.

Wappu events range from donut-eating contests to pub crawls, and from playful sports activities to coverall parties. By exploring local offerings on Kide.app and checking out the list we’ve put together, you’re sure to find something fun for yourself and your friends! Traditionally, Wappu is a highly interdisciplinary time, and most events welcome everyone, regardless of their field of study or the color of their student overalls. Once again this year, HUMAKO has its own Wappupass – Humanistiwappu! You can read more about it below in the section Wappu 101.

Wappu 101

HUMAKO’s own Wappupass, Humanistiwappu, is here again!

For the third time, this event offers an opportunity to celebrate May Day or Wappu in a relaxed atmosphere without unnecessary stress.

You can complete Humanistiwappu wherever you are by participating in three events during the Wappu Celebrations from April 1st to May 1st. At least one of the events must be organized by HUMAKO, and the others can be organized by any other organization. HUMAKO’s events will be held during this time on campus locations as well as virtually.

In summary:

  1. Buy the Humanistiwappu of HUMAKO from Kide.app. You can pick it up from HUMAKO´s office in Helsinki, HUMAKO´s wappuevents in the Helsinki capital region, or it can be sent to you via email.
  2. Choose the Wappuevents you want to attend. They´re found on Kide.app, and the events organized by HUMAKO / the events that HUMAKO will be holding a checkpoint at will be found below on this website, in the section Wappu Events.
  3. Participate in the events and collect enough stamps (3).
  4. Get your overall patch by showing your completed Humanistiwappu at Kaivarin Wappu in the HUMAKO tent on May 1st by 17:00 PM at the latest OR pick it up later from HUMAKO´s office in Helsinki. You can also pick up the patch earlier than 1.5. for example from WappuBingo (24.4.) or Humakonda Hunt (27.4.). The patch will be mailed to you if you selected shipping on Kide.app when purchasing the Humanistiwappu.
  5. Continue celebrating Wappu with your friends in the form of a picnic for example!

NOTE! By purchasing HUMAKO’s Humanistiwappu, you gain the right to Wappupass discounted tickets only for HUMAKO’s events. For Opku+ events (organized by ASK, Helga, TUO, Laureamko, METKA, JAMKO or O’Diako) you are entitled to a member-priced ticket if you´re a HUMAKO member. Otherwise buy a regular-priced ticket.
