Apply to become HUMAKO’s Student Representative 12.11.-26.11.2025!
HUMAKO’s student representatives act as the voice of the students. Every working group at Humak includes a student member who ensures that students’ voices are heard and their rights are respected within the university. The student representatives are the most important and direct channel for communicating students’ messages straight to Humak’s decision-making bodies. Within the working groups members discuss, develop, brainstorm and decide on the direction in which Humak is heading. HUMAKO’s advocacy team supports the student representatives throughout their term.
If you wish to apply to a working group, please send us an application letter. In your letter, tell us which working group you are applying for, introduce yourself, describe your previous experience, and explain why you are interested in becoming a student representative. Applications can be sent to Executive Director Jere Liitiäinen at [email protected]. The role of a student representative begins in January.
Being a Student Representative
Each working group at Humak, in addition to its staff members, includes one student representative who serves as a full member with the same rights and responsibilities as staff representatives. Each full student representative must also have one deputy representative.
The meeting schedule depends on the group. The Quality and Operations Steering Group and the Degree Education Group are the most active, meeting about once a month. The Ethics Committee and the Student Well-being Group require a lighter commitment.
HUMAKO arranges peer support meetings for student representatives when needed. Both Humak and HUMAKO provide guidance for all student representatives on how to participate in the working groups.
Before meetings, representatives are expected to familiarize themselves with the meeting materials, and after the meetings, they prepare a short summary to share with other student representatives about the discussed topics. Being a student representative does not involve any costs for students!
