Congratulations for your place of study at the Humak University of Applied Sciences. You have great years of study in front of you and to get the most out of it, we will gather important information for this Welcome New Student -page.
We are HUMAKO - Student Union for Humak students, and as a new student you can join us. More than half of Humak students are members of HUMAKO and as members they are entitled to various student life services and discounts that can be obtained through HUMAKO.

Members get lots of benefits and discounts
New students of Humak can join student union already in August. As a member of HUMAKO you can take full advantage of your studies by activating a mobile student card. Members get student prices also when travelling with train or bus, and of course also eating is cheaper with student ID.

Finnish student life tradition: Coveralls with badges
Coveralls bring all students together and helps you to recognize your student colleagues from the colorful student crowds as we Humak students are all wearing the same color - RED COVERALLS!
You can make your coveralls personal by collecting and changing coverall patches in student events or buying them. It is possible to attach useful items to yours coveralls – for example we at HUMAKO are selling shot glasses and champange glasses made from plastic. Attach these to your coveralls and make celebrating easier!

Tutors and local division at your campus
There is HUMAKO's tutors and local division working at your campus. Tutors help and support you in your studies and free time. Local division (a.k.a Jaosto) developes campus and organize events.

Feedback, advocacy and harassment contact persons
Students are being offered countless ways to give feedback and advocate their own educational institution, student union and their educational environment.
Student union HUMAKO contribute to the students’ wellbeing and current situation concerning for example equity and equality, living and livelihood - locally and nationwide.
At HUMAKO we don't accept harassment. HUMAKO has two harassment contact persons and both of them can be contacted via email. The harassment contact persons primary job on to support and advise the students that have experienced harassment.
